Local legend Keith Fraser is hosting his annual sturgeon seminar on 12/2 at 7:15pm at the marin Rod and Gun Çlub.

I've always missed this one, so I got it on the calendar early.  I'll be there and it would be great to see a good NCKA turnout.  This is the 31st annual seminar and is acclaimed as the most popular fishing show in Northern California.  Tix are only $5.  Fraser is reknowned as one the foremost sturgeon experts  Call the Loch lomond Bait Shop at 415-456-0321.

Everyone says this is the bvest.  Stienstra, Hoffman, etc.

also features "the Gamefish gourmet" Mike McNair.

Hope to see you there!

I'm thinking I might stay up there for the night and go fishing on sunday morning for stripers or sturgeon, depending on the tides/conditions.

It's a good seminar... same schpeil every year, but the guy is entertaining and he has lots of good pics from back in the day.  If anyone is in tune with the San Pablo bay fishery, it would be Keith.  And if you want to see first hand the easy way to clean a sturgeon, this is the place to see it.

If the Cuanang brothers are presenting, it's definitely worth an evening out...

I reaaallllly want to catch a sturgeon this year.

So, my plan is to remeber everything Eric presented at Padlefest, go to the Fraser seminar, studey the tides and wether, keep my calendar open to strike when it's hot, and mostly, to tag along with Eric when all conditions present.

I plan to do this as well.....unfortunately for me, EK tries to avoid being near me....like I'm some sort of leper :smt011 He'll usually wait till I'm anchored then he'll find a sweet spot to fish.....and it's usually almost a mile away from da mooch :smt002 I guess it's because I'm too "noisy"  :smt091

But with all respect to the Master Yoda :worship  of Kayak Sturgeon Fishing, if you ever watch him fish for Sturgeon, (I watched him from "a mile away" with my binocs last year :smt003) EK seems like he's in a world of his own.....no movements, no noise, no breathing and no batting of the eye.....it's kinda freaky  :smt118 almost like a vegetative state :smt064 ........but the "stillness" seems to work for him. This year, I will be like EK....and maybe I'll finally get my first legal sturgeon...after 3 years of trying  :smt013

I'm getting jazzed for the season again this year... it's really sneaking up fast on us.

Last year I caught my first legal sturgeon in the third week of November, and I recally having a blast catching many stripers, bat rays, skates, and leopard sharks on the same day...went through lots of bait.  Caught my sturgeon on my last two ghost shrimp.

The action was hot in the "honey hole" through mid-late december, then it cooled off for a bit... turned back on in Feb if I recall.

I'm certain we'll have some epic adventures again this year... check your tide tables now and block off some of those big minus tides days.

Danglin,

Go for Shimano.. I had Avets, Pro Gears, Accurates, Penn and Daiwas.  Daiwa are OK but the drag and casting systems need work.

I am not a Shimano Rep. but for day in and day out Yak fishing this is the way to go.  Take it from a guy that spent $40 K to go on a 17 dayer and has been fishing for 40 to 45 yrs years.

Good for you Dustin.....BASTARD :smt003 I'll give you lot's of credit though, you were gutsy enough to paddle a leaking kayak out in the bay  :smt011 I remember you draining your kayak after a trip to Black Point and I could not believe how much water you had in your kayak :smt118

FYI: I did catch a small rare green sturgeon the year before AND I DID hook-up last year but got broken off  :smt011 so, it's not like I'm not getting any Sturgeon love  :smt002 This year will be the year......I can feel the love :smt007

I'd like to be with you when you do, Mooch.  But, if it's anything like fishing for halibut with you I might pass.  (Cause you get them all!)

Allen,

Out a few years ago with Joel (when we use to fish together).  It was out a Coyote Pt.  It was raining, windy and cold.  I lost the feeling in my big toes.  Took like 6 months to get any feeling back.  Still to this day it sometimes acts up.  That is when I got the idea to put plastic bags over my botties.
