Yeah Wess, P town Sport and Dive seems to sell out of everything all the time except those friggin minnows . I also wonder how well they would work in the Petaluma Rivr, but judging by the fact that every thing sells out except the minnows says to me that no one is using them in the P.rivr.  better of pumping our own shrimp

How can i get the freshest minnows from the bait stores?  I am wondering about how often the bait stores get deliveries and when.

Call Broadway Bait and ask them when they get minnows.

When you go to pick them up tell Jimmy; " I want x minnows, and only females".  :smt001

Those minnows would die in about two minutes in the Petaluma river. Probably less.

If you spend a little time catching small bluegill 3 to 4 inches it works to catch larger stripers. Works well in the Delta.
Don't get caught using bluegill for bait.

Everyone out here uses bluegill for bait Howard. It's common in every waterway they are in, Sac, AR, Port, etc. Wardens don't care whatsoever.
They have checked me when I've been lining a gill and they were cool with it in the Port.
They aren't ok with the folks using trout, salmon smolts, or steelie smolts.
I've read that in the regs as well, as long as the gills weren't transported from one waterway to another you're good to go.

the thing about the Petaluma river is, not really a lot of guys are going out there to target striped bass. most guys are heading to the coast or going into san Pablo bay. its funny that those minnows are always there. I don't think they sell them too often, I never been there when anyone has bought any

Legal in:

downstream from Interstate 5 bridge.

I don't have time this morning to scour the regs on the aqueduct question.  If someone hasn't looked it up by this evening I'll give it a shot.

They sell them to lacals for ranch bass ponds. I would buy them if I was going to berry or cl as to avoid the hassle of procuring them before launch. If you want jumbos the closest place from Petaluma save Petaluma sport and dive, is cl or sac. A pita to fish berry. They used to get minnows from hagemans  trout farm but the chick was too lazy to keep current on supply. Now with the dad gone probably never again. I used to buy them there  all the time. Then the prices went up so bad it irritated the heck out of me. Cl. Fastop or Clearlake outdoors.
