I envy the reports I see on this forum.  Pickings are a little slim for kayak fishing with temperatures in the Anchorage area hitting minus 10 deg F.  Fortunately for us, any areas a tad south of us and by the ocean tend to be much warmer.

100 miles into the 220 mile one way trip, the temp is minus 8 deg.  Roh roh...that's twenty degrees colder than its supposed to be.  Fortunately Homer is much balmier in the high twenties with 10 knot winds.

But this fish marks the 6th consecutive month I have landed a king salmon from a kayak in Alaska.  Even calling Alaska home since 1971, I find it amazing.  Frankly, its the kayak that allow me to do this.  I have friends with 28ft powerboats with dual 150's on them.  They don't even think about trailering their boats in these icy winter driving conditions.  For me with a kayak, it's just another day of driving.

Hopefully one day I can get down there to fish warmer waters!  And of course for any one on this forum coming up to alaska to visit, let us know!!!  We will set you up!!!!
