Magging the Jigmaster

Has anyone here magged their conventional reels?

Am I just a wimp who needs a better functioning thumb, or is it worthwhile to mag the reel?

Nope just practice, unless you plan on casting plugs, but then I would use an abu or a spinnng reel.

Yeah, I figured.

It is an easy mod though, and might help me through the learning curve with this reel.

I don't use any breaks on my freshwater bass reels, but I have a ton of experience with them.

I think this may just be a case of me looking for things to tinker with....

I have a couple freshwater reels and I took the mags out to make them lighter.

Yeah, none of my active freshwater reels have magnets, but with the jigmaster a couple of grams is not gonna be a big deal with the heavy reel itself.

I think I will order the magnets and check it out.  It is only a couple bucks.  Ah, more tinkering.

give us a pointer to the magnets you are getting. I love that tech crap.

It seems like the jigmaster is such a big reel and for casting such big baits that the magnet is not needed?

mol, check out dkstenson on ebay. he is some kind of crazy english casting dude.

I bought stuff from him just to read his prose, it cracks me up. it is mostly for abus.

Those english surfcasters are into the 300 yard casts.

I did buy one abu with magnets, but the reel is such a wasted hunk of shit (an old 80's baitcasting
reel) that I  did not learn a ton from the magnets.
