Looking for some info or stores were I can find a surf perch rod. I would prefer a blank that I can wrap myself. Suggestions? Eric?

Lots of possibilities available depending on what style you prefer...

I built mine on a light steelhead rod... Rainshadow IST993F and like it very much... it's 8'3", fast action, rated for 6-10 lb test and 1/4 - 1/2 oz lures. I also use it for light tackle striper fishing at Mendo.  I like that blank alot.

The rod rack in hayward may have them in stock... they sell a fair amount of rainshadow.  Otherwise special order from Anglers Workshop (www.anglersworkshop.com).

If you like them long and noodly like Alien does, then look at some of the longer Steelhead float rod blanks or even fly rod blanks.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

I am using an 8-12lb 8.5 foot IM-7 steelhead rod. cheap one, like $40 from cabelas.

It's a little too much maybe but I do feel all hits.  I cannot complain that the rod is the problem.

if I luck out and get a striper over 7" ( :smt005 ) I got a chance of landing it.

It will throw 1.5 to maybe 2oz with some authori-tay although I think it is only rated to 3/4 oz.

I wonder if I could feel the hit with an alien-style longer noodly rod? I'd like to try that.
