Big Jim sent me a PM earlier today, which reminded me that I hadn't checked the mail in days. We've been in something of a daze, trying to get through the best we can with the grief and the many sad and mundane tasks that come with the loss of a loved one.

THANK YOU!

Such generosity. The NCKA community is full of people with huge hearts. The kindness is a beacon in a dark time. My family really can't thank all of you who contributed to the PIF funds enough, and for thinking of us, as well as for your words of solace and prayers.

We lost a very dear young man just as he was spreading his wings. James was our family's ray of light. We're getting by as best we can one day at a time. We are fortunate to have many people including some from NCKA checking on us frequently. It's helped keep us going.

Your generous donation will take us a long way towards establishing a permanent, annual scholarship for an incoming Cal Poly Pomona computer science major, paying it forward in perpetuity and keeping our son's name alive in the memory of the campus community.

Again, thank you! I'm overwhelmed.

Paul

No thanks needed Paul...

For those that don't know, when we heard about what had happened to James we (the A-hulls) decided unanimously to use whatever $$ we had available in the PIF fund (collected through 2015 AOTY and DOTY reg fees) to give to PAL and his family.

We were able to send Paul a check for $1,120....not a huge sum but we wanted him to know that he and his family were in our thoughts and prayers and that NCKA and PIF were here for him...

It is truly amazing and inspiring how you are handling such a tremendous loss Paul and it is an honor to be able to be part of this community and be able to help out even just a little bit to help James' name live on via a scholarship.

Sincerely,

Jim

Ps...obviously this donation would not have been possible without all those who have already signed up for AOTY and DOTY 2015...so thank you once again to all of you!!   :smt008

I can't even imagine what you must be going through Paul. Thank you for sharing your story. I'm so sorry for your loss.
