Sounds like an '80s infomercial, but it's what's going on.

I've got a Carlisle fiberglass magic paddle that I like, but it's taken on water in both halves.  Doesn't seem to want to come out either through shaking or leaving it in the sun to evaporate.  Wanted to find out if anybody's experienced this and / or if there's a typical fix that gets used in this situation.

I'm at the point where I might drill it, drain it, and seal it with epoxy, but without knowing where the original leak is, it seems it's a problem destined to repeat itself.

Emails to Carlisle have gone unanswered.

Thanks!

How old is your paddle ? They had a recall don't know if it is still in effect. What part of the paddle is it in ? 1 piece?

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Thanks!  I'll check with them and see what the deal is.  FWIW, the water is in both sides of the paddle. No idea how old the paddle is as I received it in a Craigslist package deal.

I have a Werner Kalliste that does that.  I was able to shake it out.  I had to quit leaving in the water when I dive.

Ha lot of paddles have a rubber or some type of plug below the ferrel to keep water out. Sometimes they leak and get water around the plug.

My Werner paddle does this, too...

I just shoved a dowel into the end, and it loosened the seal just enough for all the water to pour out. I'm sure it's even easier for water to get in now, but what'ya gonna do...

Nice.  Good tip.  Will have to give this a try.  Was also considering using a corkscrew  to pull it and then using marine sealant to reseal the plug.  Haven't had time to call Carlisle on the recall yet.
