We make jelly and jams every year and try new ones all the time.  Pomegranate jelly takes a lot of work but is really good.  We have tried some after years and all were good. 

Nice seeing others being self reliant.

the wife and I do a lot of jams and such, she even makes a freezer jam , which isn't cooked, that stuff is good!

here is Sonoma county it was a horrible year for blackberries there wasn't enough water and gave a super crappy yield. two years ago I took 5 pounds of fresh picked blackberries and threw it into a beer batch. Made a blackberry Simcoe wheat. was yummy.

There's no need for pectin if you reduce it enough.  My plum jam is super thick.  It does take awhile.  I do the spoon test.
