Belongs to a very friendly Vet (non-NCKA).  He paid $3500 for it and dives 200+ days/year!

Wow!

That was a blast!!!  :smt007

HUGE thanks to all who showed up and helped out in so many different ways!!!

Please post up any pics you have so we can share them with our awesome sponsors!!

Really, really bummed that batt didn't get the message that we had changed spots to Fort Ross AND that Brenda didn't tell him...we called her and asked her to please let anybody who showed up know that we were going to be at Fort Ross.  :smt012

Racinrob actually put a sign up on the highway that said NCKA right in front of the park but the LEO (who was VERY cool and understanding) took it down because it looked pretty ghetto  :smt002

Also bummed that Clayman and DG and others couldn't make it because of the storm.... CenCoast will be in charge of venue and date for the 2015 awards so we can all blame him next year if a giant storm shows up again.  :smt002

The food (and the whole roast pig paid for by Red Triangle Spearfishing and delivered by Kurious_George) was AMAZING, ton of smiles and hugs all around, and amazing prizes for a ton of people.

On the DOTY side, EVERY diver that entered a fish in 2014 and showed up got a prize!!! And ALL really quality prizes too!!  :smt007

We had THREE SWEET kayaks as prizes!!!

OK T13 (from OK and Adventure Sports and Ravensblack) for our AOTY insearchoffish, Hobie Quest 13 (from CCK and Rider) for our DOTY Nelson Kwok, and the participation raffle grand prize Hobie Revo13 (from Hobie!)  went to SeanWhite aka SBD aka malolo!!!

 :smt007 :smt007

HUGE thanks again to ALL of our sponsors!!

We're already discussing this amongst the committee but here are a few things we should keep in mind for next year if we do a combined ceremony again.

1. Have a person designated to keep track of where prizes/plaques that aren't claimed end up...I have some DOTY plaques that I took home, I know some divers took ones for other divers that they live close to etc, but if you asked me who has every single plaque/prize I wouldn't be able to tell you without doing some asking around....I/we should do a better job keeping track just to avoid the possibility of a plaque/prize getting lost. I know we didn't leave anything there so just a matter of figuring out who has what and getting it to folks via NCKA express, but I think a master list of who took what would be great...

2. Figure out a way to keep the whole group's attention over a "double awards ceremony" period of time.

After I was done with the DOTY awards, some divers (especially those who are less active on NCKA and don't know a lot of the angler guys) started talking and hanging out and partying and telling stories and congratulating each other etc. I was guilty as well because I left the prize area and went back to say hi to several folks that had shown up late.

This made it harder to hear ATD and the AOTY awards and that is not fair or cool, and I apologize that it happened.

Please believe me when I say there was absolutely no intended disrespect to AOTY or Anglers or Adam presenting. I think it was just a combination of factors: seeing old friends, drinking beers and the let down after listening/talking for a long time already.

Maybe we can mix it up and alternate presentation of prizes (big fish DOTY, big fish AOTY, leaderboard AOTY, leaderboard DOTY etc) to try and keep the attention of everyone in the future?

Or...at the very least mention it to to the whole group before awards get started. And if people are being noisy, call them out on it and tell em to be quiet or move away etc.

Besides that I think the whole thing went amazingly well??

Thanks again to all who showed up, I apologize again for my distraction during the AOTY portion, and hope all who came out had fun and enjoyed the day!!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

Pretty interesting camping at the TC beach Friday night.  Brenda wasn't answering the door.  I don't think she was there when I stopped by to offload some of the 100 oysters I had.  Never occurred to me that the party site was moved it was so beautiful at TC Sat. The bathrooms were functioning. Hope the tables and canopy I brought were not needed.
