Brenda just called and said the power went out up there and if the power is out there is no running water so the restrooms won't work and she will have to keep them closed.   :smt009

PG&E said it could be 3-4 days to get it fixed.

So....no restroom facilities unless the power manages to get back on by tomorrow.

For guys, peeing is no big deal really.

For ladies and little kids, peeing is a bigger deal.

For #2...hike into woods or go over to TC Inn/Bar or back down road to Ft Ross Store.

We wanted to let everyone know about lack of restroom facilities so they are aware/prepared and can decide if they still want to come.

I'm not too super concerned about this...look at the launch at shelter cove...people hang out for hours down there with no facilities and its not the end of the world.

If there's an emergency and someone has to go #2 and don't wanna walk into woods they can drive to TC Inn or down to Ft. Ross store etc.

Otherwise, please plan accordingly and do your business on the road (not on the road really, but at a gas station etc  :smt005) before arriving at TC.

  :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

ps...remember guys...we spend all day on little plastic kayaks...a couple hours on a beach giving out awards without a restroom shouldn't be a deal breaker IMO.  :smt004

Just wear your wetsuit under your clothes. Keep you warm in the rain, can pee in it no problem, and as a story I heard recently indicates, you can also #2 in it no problem. Win win all around.

Excatly!

Our DOTY Nelson can give us lessons on how to have explosive diarrhea in our wetsuit!

Just talked to Brenda and she is still happy to have us over.

She said she is pretty sure TC Inn has a generator so their restrooms should work in case of an emergency for ladies/kiddos.

We could bring 5 gallon bottles of water to make the toilets flush.

You could bring a 5-gallon bucket & use seawater to make 'em flush.

I'd be fine with that obviously but Brenda is the one in charge over there...

I will be heading through Petaluma around 630/7am or so and caravaning over with Ravensblack...

If the road is blocked or flooded I will post up here and let people know.

Otherwise, we will see you at the beach at TC!

Still dry as a bone down here in Watsonville....

Jim

Is there a plan for somewhere else if things do change? I still want to hang out with everyone.

I did not see a specific plan but Jim is going early and said if something changes he will be posting so those on the road can check the forum for updates.

Nelson called Fort Ross to see if they had bathrooms that would work even withour power and yes they do.

Here is the deal with fort ross:

-They are open tomorrow
-$8 per vehicle fee
-They have two different covered bathrooms
-We do not need a permit/reservation to have our ceremony there
-We can set up right up top by the main parking lot
-We can drink alcohol
-We can have dogs, but must be on leash and only in main parking area, service road, campground
-We can NOT have an open fire

I honestly don't know what is the best thing to do at this point and have very little time left today to try and figure it out.

I think with the sh*t weather and rough ocean the main lot at fort ross sounds easier to set up cars and pop ups and tables and tarps to keep people, prizes and pigs dry.

But I still think TC beach is prettier....

Please chime in with what you think of changing from Fort Ross to TC.

If we DO make a change any help getting the word out via PM etc to people would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry if the weather and stuff is making this more complicated than anticipated.

Jim
