I'm looking for a christmas gift for my dad. He is obscenely hard to find gifts for.

Anything he might want to buy, he buys without a care. So everything he "needs" is covered.

So I'm looking for stuff that might be better versions of what he has, no rods or reels or anything like that. He fishes off a powerboat.

One thing I was thinking was, he really likes good knives. Knowing him, he probably bought some readily available filleting knife found in a store. Is there something that's "the best"? Budget is probably around $100-150.

I am not sure what else there might be. He hates cheesy decorations and useless stuff. He mostly only buys what the store folk tell him is the best.

So basically, what do I buy the man who has everything? Easy question.  :smt013

Feel free to give some out of the left field ideas. I don't know what they fish for over there other than Wahoo.

Or if you think he already has some decent knives, consider a professional knife sharpener.  You can get some pretty kick ass sharpeners for that budget!

I love that sort of thing but my dad has a weird thing about decorations. His house is always devoid of any personality whatsoever. He gets upset when people "waste money" on getting decorations for him!

Rockfish that looks like a good one. As far as I can see it's the same knife hat Dexter sells with a sheath in addition. I like it so far. The sport fishing boat I was on used dexter knifes and it cut like butter!

Polepole, I think it's more likely he already has an expensive knife sharpener than it is having decent knives. I grew up with him always emphasizing the value taking care of knives but I've never seen him buy a knife set not found in Target. But if you can recommend a specific model I might be able to look into what he currently has, maybe his is a overpriced brand name that sounds fancier than it is.

Thanks for the recommendations so far!

How about something for his vehicle?? Like a nice floor mats/floor liner (I like the ones from weather-tech) or some neoprene car seats from Wet okole ( I have some for my tacoma and they're nice!)? That's what I'm getting my dad this year. I find that each passing year, it's getting harder and harder to find presents for loved ones. They seem to have everything already. I was so desperate last Christmas, I just gave out gift cards.

Give him a gift certificate for one free back rub...from you.
It shows you care and will be enough to creep him out that you'll pave the way for any future gift to be well received no matter what it is.

What about a knife kit? A filet knife or many others to choose from. A project you can work on together.

Thanks for everyone's recommendations!

I ended up going with rockfish's recommendation of this knife. Thanks bro.

I also remembered that my dad always loved using sharpening rods for his knives. This sharpener came highly recommended. As well as sexy looking.  :smt007

I may have bought both of these for myself as well.
