That's a pucker moment when I found out we were diving close by at the same time it was spotted.  And vis was excellent. 

I just think GWS will try to eat you if they see you.  They eat big critters that are swimming around--and we're one of those.  So, IMHO, Eric's right.  If they can't see you they can't eat you.    I think they tend to spit out humans after a taste because they don't like eating plastic and rubber, not because they're such foodies that they only deem to eat marine mammals.

I think they spit you out then wait for you to bleed out so they can finish eating you.  That way they don't get poked in the eye.
