I need help - fishing and charter boat related.

Alright, damn so much great info love it. THANKS I know its stupid to post this kind of question on forum, Knowing so many here are knowledgeable regarding do's and dont's in fishing, I can get reliable information. Yes, if they just paid for his charters with no strings attached because they were cool relatives, then it would be perfectly legal for him to give them some of his catch if he so chooses.

That isn't the point. It would be illegal even if there was only an expectation of the last fish of his limit, or the carcasses of the fish to use as crab bait, or whatever. It's the expectation of a thing for a thing no matter if that "thing" might not materialize.

There isn't a way to spin it and make it legal without taking away any expectation of fish caught under authority of a sport license being part of any transaction no matter how conditional or tenuous.

Darius's relatives gifted the trip to him and Darius gifted the fish to them. DONE!

Why even go on a cattle boat when you got a kayak? All the fish you can catch on the SMC.

There are moments I have to take charters. Specially when the conditions is not ideal to Kayak or its during those months to avoid SMC..

Legality aside, it's a bad investment unless you catch 50 pounds of salmon. A party boat trip is close to $150 when you factor in tips and transportation. You go to the fish department of the 99 Ranch Market and spend $150, that's a lot of fish. Party boat fishing is rarely a good return on investment. Kayak fishing however sometimes is a good return on investment. So if your fish loving friends bought you a tank of gas, a dozen big hammers and some crab bait, well they might get a good return.
