Those of you who have been to HMB over that past 2 weekends, know what the parking lot conditions were like; this past weekend, with the somewhat nice weather, it was more evident of just how bad it has gotten.

Having been there since 2005 for the Crab Opener weekend, I knew just how bad things have gotten.

However, what I initially thought (that it was because of the growth of recreational crabbing) was not the actually reason for the increase of RVs in the lot.

On Sunday on my way back home, I decided to dump my grey/black tanks before heading over the hill; so I stopped by the Half Moon Bay State Campground, just south of the Hwy 1/Hwy 92 intersection.

What I found out was the had completely shut down the campground for renovation and were directing RVers to the surrounding campgrounds; and to Pillar Point Harbor, since all coastal campgrounds are generally book'd way in advance.

For the next 5 months, they will be renovating and plan to re-open in March/April 2015; which will impact parking at the PP Harbor.

So if you plan to stay over the weekend, be sure to get there late Thursday or Early Friday to get a decent spot.

Just a heads up on the situation....

So you didn't get to dump all your shit again?   :smt005  Finally cleaned my tanks yesterday and did not know I had to pay $10 to dump it where I pay to park the rv.   Is there a dump on the rv park right close to the harbor?

Dump station was open, emptied both tanks!  The dump station is just before you enter the campround; and also cost $10 too... Its one stoplight south of the Hwy 92 turnoff....

Shoot it should be free to dump the tanks at your storage; other storages don't charge...

Yeah parking is a joke. I drove around for 30 min looking for a spot. I resigned myself to a parking ticket. Between one entire lot taken up by commercial pots and the camping area being used in efficiently (saw many parking spots taken up by chairs and bbq's) it was less then fun.

When were you there? Last weekend?

One of the biggest problems with the camping in HMB harbor is the parking spots were designed for a truck and boat, not RV's. This makes it impossible to extend a pop-out and still be able to get in/out of front door of trailer without taking 2 spots.

I was sitting next to Glen's RV. You probably passed by when I made a brief visit to my friend at the bait shop.

$22 for a parking ticket; is that parking in the middle lot?
