I had the opportunity to take her out for the first time in the ocean on a crabbing trip yesterday with my close fishing buddies.
John and Bob decided to use an inflatable with a 8HP engine. The rest of us took our kayaks out.  I launched out at the same time with my buddies on the inflatable.

Today I found out first hand the benefit of the new Mirage Drive Glide Technology that comes with roller bearings.  With average effort I maintained a steady 3.5 knots and kept up with my buddies motoring on the inflatable all the way to our spot.  I had 4 Promar collapsible traps as cargo in the rear well.

The CT Vantage seat offered great stability.  I sometimes sat side saddle and pulled crab traps all day without feeling off balance.  I did learn a lesson to keep the speed drain plug open which I missed during the start of our trip.  Back at the beach there was water build up under the seat.

Only big crabs went home today.  :smt006

Great kayak Mel.  Nice to be able to go a little faster with less strain.

Glad to see you guys got crab while I am not, kind of jealous.

I bought a brand new inflatable boat with brand new 15 HP electric start Yamaha outboard and hope to catch some crab. Came out at the crab opening day, brand new Yamaha failed to start at cold temp. I though Yamaha is a good manufacture and reliable but actually just a piece of junk. Brought back to the deal and they still try to figure it out.

Buy Honda or some thing else. Yamaha out board is not recommended, poor product and quality control.

Glad to hear you like your new Revo Mel and got some crab too.  I'm looking to get a new Revo myself but I still want to test drive both the Revo and the new Outback first.  It sounds like the new upgrades are worth the extra $$$.

Mel -I added the sidekick Ama kit (Ama kit is a must have on Revo for crabbing, I think) to my Revo want take it out for crabbing but the Boss of the house said no more crabbing with kayak, seriously :smt011. I am going to bring back my engine tomorrow; hopefully, I am able to go out on Sunday.

I enjoy your reports Mel, it makes me  happy that you are stoked with the new yak. Sell it to me in a year or two? -Amos

Brett, The new drive shines in open water conditions.  I could feel more propulsion with less energy exerted.  On the way back in, conditions changed to a 10 knot head wind.  I was still pedaling a comfortable 3.2 knots.

The only CAUTION is the drink holder seems shallower now and seat is a bit higher.  I kept hitting my water bottle with my thigh which kept  falling out.  I got tired of this and put my water bottle at the front edge of the seat.  Now its out of the way.  This was not an issue with my older Revo.
