I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for rigs for live minnows in 60-100 FOW for Mackinaw.

Sliding weight and a 3-4' leader?

It would be nice to have a rig with the weight on the bottom...

Thanks Jude. You going to fish at all this weekend? My brother is coming up and we're planning on fishing all weekend. Might head down to South Lake if we can figure out where to go.

Here is a little secret a local taught us. Place a small piece (about 1/2" X  3/8") of glow in the dark rubber worm just ahead of the eye of the hook prior to hooking the minnow....it works wonders at depth. I can't believe I shared that with anyone but since I no longer compete in our year long event ...it's all fair game.  :smt002

The piece of Glo in the dark worm can just stick on the eye of the hook as long as it doesn't interfere with the hookup.  Add some scent on the worm...

Ps..you have to catch your own local minnows or purchase from a Tahoe bait shop..no "outside" live bait is allowed. .

Thanks! I definitely was planning on catching them in Donner - don't want to be spreading stuff around and it's illegal!

I will definitely send you a PM if we come down there. I think we're going to do Donner on Saturday because it is so close and easy. If it isn't any good I will connect with you on Saturday.

If you want to come up here and fish let me know!
