Staying at a house for a few days in Windsor, and don't know the area.  So far, looking to visit Girl and the Fig, Capelli, Coppola, and Emeritus.  and lunch at Jimtown Store at some point.

Appreciate if you could share your recommendations for must do/ must eat/ must see for the area.

Thanks!!

Hard to go wrong with the Dy Creek Road area wineries. Are you also a beer drinker? The unobtainable cult beer Pliny the Elder is made at Russian River brewery in Santa Rosa. Typical pub food but they always have Pliny on tap. Another way to get it is, believe it or not, the restaurant at Korbel Champagne Cellars. The brewer got his start there so he keeps them supplied.

Not a "must do" but I really like having lunch at Charcuterie when I'm  in Healdebug. Almost always order the lamb burger.

As folks have said, if you can, devote a day to the Healdsburg/Dry Creek area. Do the wine tasting crawl (lots of interesting Zinfandel producers, if thats your thing) from 101 all the way up Dry Creek to the dam, stop into the hatchery for a quick tour, and end the day at Bear Republic for some excellent beer and great food. We make a day of that every winter and its a blast.

Thx for the recos boys. Hit Russian Riv Brew for lunch and two growlers of Pliny. Meatball sandwich was decent but no reason to return. Pliny has a incredibly floral nose to it very interesting.

At the house now, Walked off the deck and didn't see this 8 in grass covered rut, fell and sprained same ankle that I tweaked running skyline three weeks ago. So far the place is a premises liability death trap. Icing it now but at least the vineyard views pretty nice

I'd avoid Coppla unless you are really into his films and seeing memorabilia on display. The food is so-so and it gets too crowded. Go with Dry Creek Road and Westside Road for the wineries if that's in the plans. PM Cameron/Bowdun...he's the go to guy in the "Burg" as he calls it. Have Fun..!!

Oh..Mickfish knows some great Intel too!

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Hey that looks like the view from my backyard! Windsor is an odd town. There really isn't much going on here.

Coppola has some neat movie stuff, but it can get busy. It's one of those attractions that people like. Personally I think the food is pretty good, but I usually have a few drinks when I'm there!

If you are doing breweries as well as wineries don't forget the Bear Republic in Healdsburg. You can also wander around Healdsburg for tasting rooms and shopping if you don't have time to hit all the wineries.

Try breakfast at Hanks Creekside in Santa Rosa. Or KC's downtown grill in Windsor to be closer. Get coffee at Caffe Noto on the Windsor town green and skip starbucks.

Kayak related floating the russian river is a lot of fun IMO, but it's the wrong time of year for that!

You already said it, but Girl and the Fig is off the hook! Go for a walk up to the wolf house while you are there.

I'm not into wines but my wife is. She recommends trying Truett Hurst/on Dry Creek for their pinot & zinfandels, Eric Ross/in Glen Elen, Viszlay/on Limerick Ln Healdsburg for their pinot & sparkling wine, Geyser Peak/Magnolia Dr Healdsburg for their chardonnay, sav blanc, & red/Meritage.

If you want a good IPA & hamburger/wings etc try Ruth Magowan's Brew Pub in Cloverdale. Have fun!

Michel-Schlumberger at 4155 Wine Creek Road Healdsburg, has IMO the prettiest grounds in the Dry Creek Valley. Tasting and tour is $30 I think, but it is a lovely property. Down Towne Creamery has those doughnut muffins that the goofs on Cooking Channel say are the best things they have ever eaten. Spoon Bar @ 219 Healdsburg Ave. is on a complete list of to-do's. Maybe go to Travena Sofia Greek restaurant and be waited on by my step-daughter while you are in Healdsburg. Plus 0ne on Salty's Ruth McGowan's in Cloverdale

Bummer about the ankle but that is a great view to sit with the leg propped up and a glass of wine. You have heard some good advice here. Glad you got in on the Pliny. Have to give a thumbs up to the suggestions of Bear Republuc and Truett Hurst as well. So my next suggestion is for a future trip. Combine wine tasting and a coastal trip by going to Paso Robles. More good wineries than you can visit in one trip and close to the coast for kayaking or just viewing. A very similar trip to what you are doing now but, IMO, much more enjoyable. I grew up in Napa and the crowds and cost of tasting make me avoid that area today. Paso (and small wine areas like Amador or Lodi) are more like Napa/Sonoma was 20 to 30 years ago. Usually the fee, if any, is minimal and the winery owner is pouring at the tasting bar. There are a lot of great wines at reasonable prices to be discovered in these areas.
