Nice seeing you guys out there.  Congrats on the LapuLapu/Hella Asian Crew rescue too. Without their assistance, things could have ended badly for a kayaker (possibly an NCKA member?)  I'll let the rescuers chime in.

Good hanging out with you guys yesterday. My arms are tired, and my body is sore from paddling back when the fan turned on at noon.  Nice chatting with you otw Allen. Hopefully I got some of that crab whisperer dust while pulling your pots. Lol.

Ryan it was great to see you otw on such a spectacular morning.  The fan turned on right at 11:50a.  You could set your watch, with the time change too.  I loved the paddle back in, the whoosh of swell the few slaps on the water and the long paddle pulls.  If there weren't buoys, it was like standing still.  :smt003

I got home, made Super Shuttle and spent the night on a plane grounded with a mechanical.  No trip.  I might go back to hmb and scare away more Dungies.  Don't put your pots next to mine if you want a limit! :smt044

I went back after getting tip where to drop. I was nasty and I could not find my two pots for awhile, thought the sea god ate it. Finally found them. Head to that spot, and everyone are heading to the harbor around 1pm.
It was crazy out there, very windy. If I stop paddling, wind push me so far. I have thought of landing on the beach if I cannot get back into the harbor.
Now I blamed it on my bait jars. Holes are too small for crab to sense or eat. I am going back to my metal mesh box.
Will hit HMB again.

Maybe that's what was different.  I used both in my pots.  I had a metal mesh box totally loaded up with squid and a plastic bait jar that I froze the night before with squid and left over rock cod pieces in each pot.

I wonder if that made a difference or if I just got lucky with pot placement.

Fan?  You had a motor on your kayak?  I didn't even notice.

BTW, it was good talking to you out there.  Does this mean that your string baiting technique didn't work out as good as you hoped?

And, thanks for the advice.  I ordered a VHF radio as soon as I got home.  (Well, as soon as I got home, unloaded everything, rinsed off my kayak, and cooked up the dungies.)   :smt001
