Mooch,
If Mermaids are really real afterall, then someday I honestly expect to checked-out by a harem of them. I'll end the conversation with a plug for them to check you out too.  :smt007
Got your back covered,
Craig

Mooch-
Ive been looking at the T-160, I just wonder about the bow being so flat...  I will be test paddling one in the near future, but until then I keep adding to the Pungo....
I am also considering the use of a Necky Looksha 5 as a fishing boat for the salt.  I would just have to get one of those deck bags to keep fish in... alas, the $1600 tag is not so friendly  :smt009
Less Mental than before, Still savage AF tho <3

I had a Necky Dolphin for EVER and loved it...in some ways (mentioned above) i like it better than my OK Prowler 15. Looksha was a close choice for me, but eventually went with the Dolphin.

I just not too crazy about the tupper wear hatch - I think the Prowler 15 Hatch (buckle / strap) has the best  waterproof hatch in the market...

my 2 cents...

:smt004 ***I am just adding to the discussion, not refuting anyones opinion***  :smt004

Initially, I was unsure about the "tupperware hatch," but overtime, I found out it does not leak one bit.  I have been tumbled in big baja overhead surf with equipment below deck... Never came open, and not a drop.  Just think of a tupperware container, many use it as battery storage boxes in their kayaks, why? cause they are mostly leak proof, I mean take a tupperware container, dip it in water, most likely you will not have a leak.  In all actuallity, a tupperware container is actually not a good analogy, as the Tarpon hatches have a much better seal.  Wilderness Systems started making whitewater stuff way before fishing kayaks, which need to be water tight for obvious reasons.  I like the glide on my T-160i, only thing I'd change is some flatter spots along the forward rails for flush mounts, and these I'd only use them during bay bass tourneys trolling crank baits.

This is a good kayak for me, my advice to people is to paddle as many as possible before buying.  Had I not fished for WS, I'd still paddle the T-160i...

here is a review I wrote if anyone is interested...

Tight lines,

Chris

The only problem I had with the Front Hatch on my old T120 was during transport.  I had one come off going over the hill (Hwy 17).  Kayak Connection replaced it for me.  I stored it inside after that.

I think many do not like the T-ware style hatch, not b/c of leaks, but rather some found it difficult to put it back on when on the water.  I didn't really find this to big of a problem, personally.

Due to my rack, I face my kayak backwards when travelling, so it is downwind, sucks your lid flew off!!   :smt010

I did notice a couple posts stating some anglers have trouble reaching their front hatches, just curious if those who posted straddle their kayaks, kinda like a surf board?  I can pretty much sit on the front hatch w/o feeling tippy or flipping... A SOT kayak is just a glorifed surf board...   :smt001  Below, I was showing my buddy on his first kayak fishing trip, how to get into the hatch on my old Tarpon 120...

I had no problem getting to my front hatch by scooting forward like your buddy to drop off a jacket or stow something until I'm on land.  It would be more difficult retrieving something or stowing a rod, IMO.

.....with FAC (flat ass calm) waters like that, I can stow my gear on my own on my P15.....but FAC waters are hard to come by at Nor Cal. This is one reason why I'm disappointed that Wilderness System's = they don't make the T160's with the rear hatch anymore  :smt011

Holy Mackerel, since your on the WS Pro Team, maybe you can pull a few strings and get these yaks made again :smt002 I'd sure like to get one for chasing Salmon :smt045 I like the fact that I can simply trun around, open the hatch and grab my gear - IMO: it's better than trying to scoot up to the front hatch - especially on bumpy conditions.

Yeah, I can appreciate that, La Jolla isn't always purty....  :smt003  Baja winds can be bad, and chop can ensue pretty bad, along with nasty surf, and landing zones.  I just don't see many reports in the reports forum with nasty weather, just figured you guys stay home those days, (like I would) lots of nice lake reports though looks fun...  :smt001   Btw, I have no pull at WS...   :smt010   Hope to get up there this year for some fishing, I'd like to fish one of your tourneys!
