I was fishing for S Turgenev at Rat Rock when Chucke paddled by and introduced himself and NCKA, then I met JTF and some of the fellas and they had RADIOS and FISH FINDERS, wow, pros!

i saw scAllen (bushey) and his kayak at the CowPalace Sports & Boat Show. Saw his FishFinder, turned and told my lil'nephew Chad (FISHADOW) "I'm gonna get me one of THOSE!

got one and then searched the WorldWideWeb.....saw alot of SoCal stuff and then typed Northern California Kayak Fishing.

Met Mooch and a few of the OG's like RockHopper, Mako1, ChuckE, Guitarzan at the CSBA tourney @ Mendo.......these guys are too cool!

That's back when your username was still "adam coca".  I remember that event.  I took a picture of your first ever fish caught off a kayak, right?  Shit, we're getting old.

I think it was Brian G who came into the old kayak shop I worked at and told me about the club. I rediscovered it about 3 years ago when I got back into fishing. Hard to believe its only been 3 years. My life has totally changed because of NCKA and Kayak Fishing.

Google for me.

I remember fishing off capitola wharf with Valentina in a stroller and seeing guys out on yaks out in the kelp and I KNEW that was what I wanted to do... :smt001

Found NCKA online.

Lurked for a bit .

Ordered the BigYak from LL Bean.

Met up with the A-Hulls at SWS for RF opener. Saw FM1 and Bloodbath diving and thought "sheet, I can do that!".

 :smt003

Then they got me drunk at the beach, fed me fried food, invited me to GS4, and that was it...I was hooked!  :smt007

THANK YOU to all of NCKA for being such a great community!!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

I believe it was Joel. He wasn't Mooch yet. Might have been Bushy, but then I think Bushy was pushing a different site then. Correct me if I'm wrong oh wise one.
Met at a SC kayak fishing event in 2005 where a whole 17 people entered. That's where i found out about NCKA. I didn't even know anyone else fished from a kayak.
I found out about the tourney by chance from Mike Mowrey. He approached me in his boat at Sly Park and told me about the tourney.
I think this might be my very first PM:

Mike - here's my number (650) 954.8153

see you at Ono

was that the SC tourney where basically no one caught anything? it was a rockfish or something that won?

I think that was the only tourney i entered.

I met SCAllen in a crazy way as well...was fishing in a rental with my buddy and his daughter, foggy as HELL. off about 50 yds was a yakker.  We pull in, start the drift and drop a 20#er into teh boat, round back around and second drift - 24#s.
Allen comes paddling over in that blue scupper "what are you guys using?".  Hey dude, "im a yak fisher too!"

Bam 2006 was the first event for Ty and I. What a great intro. Ty caught a 32 inch striper, that would have won, the day before!

Nope. Alex/Alien, whom Joel brought to the tourney, caught a 32 lb halibut to win it. First time kayak fishing too.

Remember Adam talking about kayak fishing every time we were fishing from the shore or float tubing. Also remember saying " buy one and catch a fish so I have an excuse. He did. It was hard to keep up with him in the float tube. got the invite to yak mendo with him and mooch. Mooch let me barrow a p-15 and put me on fish and gave me a ncka sticker. Been down since that day in 06. So yeah It was Adam and mooch.... And a little bushy I guess. Thanks for introducing me to " the fam" and the madness.

I had no idea there was so many sick, I mean people interested in kayak fishing like I was.  However, I wanted to be involved with HOW after I read an article, and bugged the shit out of Don till he called me back.  NCKA was a bonus for me.
