Repairing a hole in plastic kayaks

Sorry if this is already addressed elsewhere or if I'm posting it in the wrong place...  I have an old Costco-bought Mainstream with a hole in the bottom - is it repairable?  The kids love this boat at the river in the summer, and it's caught lots of ocean fish too.  WhadooIdo?

Holes in plastic boats can be welded and be good as new. Most larger kayak shops can weld the hole. They generally use a sophisticated and large compressed air and heat system to control melting the new plastic to bond with the old. Its permanent and solid. Those machines cost a lot of money so have the shop do it if you just have one small job. If you want to do it yourself and anticiapte having to do more repair jobs or even modify plastic boats, you can also buy a plastic welders in a wide price range but it might cost more than a good used kayak. Here is one that looks to be of pretty good quality.
