I think it would be fine for a FW use or areas w/o kelp.  I'd be worried about snagging on kelp or other vegetation on a regular basis.  Like all other inventions, very item has its place & intended use.  Looks like a good thought.  Is the face side that the magnets stick together to flat or curved?  Not a lot of flat surfaces on a kayak.

Looks like a lot of potential drag. Thoughts?

I use a suction cup mount to stick my transducer on the side of my kayak. Doesn't create all that much drag but I generally pop it off and set it inside by my feet any time I make a big move. This magnetic mount looks pretty solid, if something happens to my suction cup I would probably get one.
