So I am going to get a new hobie now that the new models are out. I've tested both the revo 13 and the outback. I love them both. I'm trying to figure out which one to purchase. How stable is the outback on the open ocean in rough conditions? Which do y'all think would be better. I mainly fish, HMB, SC, and bolinas. Thanks for the input.

Longer=mo better    Especially in the ocean.

Everything I have is longer than my cars. Why should that make a difference? That is one mistake people make when getting a kayak. afraid of long boats. Another big one is that "everyone else has one, it must be good". Now the weight thing, I understand that. Whatever feels more comfortable is the one you should get.

They're both pretty stable but the Outback is more stable.  As with most things in life it's a give and take situation.  The Revo is much faster and tracks better and can be paddled pretty well.  The Outback trades of the speed for stability and  has more space on the deck than the Revo.  Both are easy enough to pedal all day.  I don't think either one is better.  It's purely a matter of personal preference.  The guys with Revos love them and the guys with Outbacks seem to feel the same way about their yaks.  You won't go wrong with either choice.

I fish both salt and fresh, if I were to only fish salt I would get a adventure or the new revo16.in the salt you want a longer boat
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Fish & Brew nailed it…

I personally like the Outback more, having said that, the Revo 16 looks promising.  Fast, sleek…

Outbacks are comfortable, stable, and easily movable,  paddle like a tank…  If your planning on putting some serious miles on the Big Blue,

I'd be looking at the Revo 16,

tough call and can't go wrong either way,  or just do what I do,  Outback and AI…   :smt003

I think that 62# figure is the hull alone. No rudder, hatch covers, seat, gear bucket etc. Sometime I'm going to weigh the yak with my usual fish gear then weigh as stuff is taken off to see it ever reaches 62#. Good yak for salt for sure.

I had an Outback, and I fish mainly HMB. I sold it for an AI.  As awesome as the Outback was, it felt like a barge in swells. I prefer the efficiency of a longer kayak and slicing through the swell instead of riding up and slapping down.

Also, the longer length of the AI made for easier loading because the lift angles aren't as severe as in a short yak. I use the Yakima boatloader bar and the extra length definitely makes life easier.
