The revo 16 is the same as the 2014 adventure, except for the new seat, name and lowrance ready. The AI is a compleatly new boat.

You're forgetting about the new Drive, new venturi self draining scupper plugs under the seat, new mesh pockets, & I've been thinking that the deletion of the daggerboard hole will actually reduce drag making the hull glide even better.
Add it all up & I think those improvements make the REVO16 upgrade worthy for people like myself who already loved the boat.

Speaking about the AI, I wonder what all was done to cause the weight to go up so much? The hull is only 7" longer but the weight increase is pretty substantial. I'm sure that it will be awesome in lighter wind with the larger sail & able to handle higher wind thanks to the larger amas & redesigned hull.

When they say no weight gain but longer, would that mean there's a compromise somewhere? Thinner plastic perhaps?

The Revo 16 is 1 inch narrower than the Revo 13.

Product description from Hobie. "Fishing at speed." I like that. I was actually thinking about going back to the Revo13 if they increased the weight on the 16 but since only the new AI weighs more I think I'll stick with & upgrade to the 16. It would be hard going back to a 13 hull.

"Sleek. The Hobie Mirage Revolution 16 boasts a long, lean hull that’s low on drag and big on speed, allowing you to glide along at speeds that are typically reserved for far more fragile kayaks.

But instead of requiring constant babying, the Revo 16’s rugged, rotomolded polyethylene hull stands ready to brave any beach. Consider the Revo 16’s range and speed— coupled with creature comforts such as ergonomic carrying handles and its comfortable, Vantage CT seat—and the advantages are obvious. With a 16’ hull design for touring or fishing at speed plus MirageDrive power, covering distance with ease is the Revo 16’s game."

Wow... Smart innovation!
I was little jealous when kenjan & daviator going through wave & kept trolling at Albion.
Wish I can afford to upgrade. Maybe in a few yrs...

Herb, they changed the Adventure's name to Revo16. This is not a 16 foot long Revo. It is a renamed Adventure with all of this year's new improvements including......

1.New seat
2.New drive
3.Lowrance ready hull
4.New venture scupper seat drains
5.New material for mesh pockets

But make no mistake this is a new hull in at least three different ways ie: seat pan, Lowrance cavity, & deletion of daggerboard hole.
The only thing it is not going to be, is as stable as a Revo13.

Help me understand please. I'm looking into buying a Hobie in 2015.

From 2015 on:

There's no more Hobie Adventure. It's now replaced with Revo16.

There's still an Adventure Island, but there won't be any upgrade kits to go from a Revo 16 to AI? They are completely separate kayaks now?
Thresher in avatar and Soupfin Shark in signature both caught and pic taken by me.

Hobie doesn't list the revo 16 as lowrance ready, where did you see that it's lowrance ready?

Also does anyone know if you can retrofit to run just one AMA if you buy the parts, or did hobie remove the reinforcing around the mounting locations? Maybe 2014 or older parts since the 2015 amas are larger?

Yes they are definitely different hulls.

I don't know the answer about retrofiting but hope to know soon. My guess is they probably won't be offering the kits anymore but may have left the reinforcing if we're lucky. I don't remember where I saw that it's lowrance ready right now but I can't imagine they would change the hull mold without doing that mod. It might have been in one of those initial videos from the trade show where their rep said they would all be Lowrance ready. I'm just, obviously, super stoked that they finally upgraded & included the Adventure/Revo16 in with the rest of the upgraded boats.

I just posted our questions on the Hobie forum so their rep Matt will probably respond in the next day or so.

I have not see the new seat. Does it ride higher than the old seat? I assume it would since it has a frame, or did they lower the new seat pan to recess the new seat? Do I make sense? I've just seen so many new seats I was curious. Thanks

IMO 350lb weight capacity sucks as does the weight of the hull itself.

According to hobie the new seat does not change center of gravity so I'm assuming lower seat pan. That could also affect internal storage as well if they continue to have foam blocks under the seat.

Thanks Ben. I was wondering about a higher center and less stable boat.

They show there're 4 adjustments for the seat on their video clip.
