Weather Caution

Some of the best fishing of the year is upon us. I wanted to remind everyone to be prepared for the worst kind of weather; especially if you are staying overnight a day or two.
My girlfriend and I did a short 5 mile hike to Margaret Lake in the Tahoe region near Caples Lake.
Fortunately we had hotel accommodations for the night, otherwise we might have been totally screwed.
The two pics below were taken less than 24 hours apart.
Notice the clear weather one day then the drive home the next.
So all of us who are planning trips to the upper elevation lakes; go prepared.
This was not expected by anyone.

Yeah, for real Tote! I lived in Truckee for some time and the weather can change in minutes in the high country. Glad you guys didn't have to tough that one out!

that is always a good tip for this season. i heard on the news there was snow the other day in tahoe and i could not believe it. checked the internet and it was true. sure is weird eh?

Tote... did you and your girlfriend fish Caples?
Aren't there big macks in that lake?

One summer, before I started kayak fishing, I stayed in a cabin on that lake .  It had the most awesome view!

Not really.  It is not uncommon to get snow in the sierras in mid october.

I've seen snowfall every single month of the year in California. If you're traversing the Sierras, be prepared for weather, or be alert to the fact that you might want to postpone or re-route.
