Nevermind, too impatient.

I got the Perception Search 15.  It has a rudder, new seat and paddle for $600

The Malibu was bare bones with a seat for $550.

Seemed like a no Brainerd to me, but I'm a FNG.

Good deal? Mistake?

am I correct that maximum capacity for Perception Search 15  is 300lb?

That may not be enough boat for you at 285. One way to find out. Go paddle. The extreme capacity is over 500 from what i see, which seems too high for that boat. I have paddled it and really did not like it. Seems like the capacity should be a bit higher than advertised, but I'm not familiar with that version of that perception. It looks to based on the Tarpon platform. My Tarpon 160 has a capacity of 375. The Tarpon 14 is 375 as well. Have fun with it. The one you bought will paddle better than the one you didn't.

Well the more I paddle the lighter I should get right?  And I tend to pack light just for day trips

I do not want to break your joy, but If Rob correct than it should be better capacity than website info 300 lb., because 300-285 = 15  15lb for tackle and fish is not enough.

I think it should be more than 300, but I did not rate the capacity on that one.
