ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

Cobra Kayaks negotiated a KILLER deal with Island Packers of Ventura for the ULTIMATE Kayak Fishing Expedition to Santa Cruz Island from June 9th to June 12th.

That is 4 days and 3 nights at Scorpion Cove on Santa Cruz Island, with easy access to hiking, swimming, Marine Caves, and excellent kayak fishing around San Pedro Point and Yellow Banks.

We have reserved space for the maximum amount of kayaks (18 per day to the island) and up to 36 campers.

Currently we have space for 22 people on this trip, with 10 kayaks.

Fees -
Round Trip Boat fare - $65.00 per person
Round Trip Kayak Transport - $12.00 per Kayak
Camping Permit - $5.00 per person

This means that for ONLY $82.00 you get transportation for you and your yak to and from Santa Cruz Island, as well as 3 nights of camping on the island! Talk about a DEAL!

Details -

Departure - 9am Ventura Harbor Island Packers Cruises, 1691 Spinnaker Dr. Suite 105B, Ventura CA 93001. Arrive Island 10am.

Check-in:
Arrive one hour before departure time to check in. All passengers must have a boarding pass before boarding the boat. All camping gear must be loaded on boat 30 minutes prior to departure time.

Kayaks:
A limited number of kayaks can be transported each day and space must be reserved in advance. Now I have already reserved the maximum amount for the 9th, but say you want to come out on the 9th and there is no room for your kayak... they CAN bring your kayak out on the 10th if you want. ALL kayaks must have a kayak boarding tag and a bow-line of 6-8 feet with a clip.

Packing for your trip:
Island Packers has limitations on size, weight, and and types of gear they can transport because of difficulty transferring it ashore and the limited storage space available on board the vessels. Island Packers suggests as if you were going on a backpacking trip with no single item over 45 lbs. This does NOT mean you can only bring one pack weighing 45 lbs, rather you can bring multiple packages, but each package can weigh no more than 45 lbs. To insure your safety and conform to Coast Guard regulations, any fuel of flammable liquid containers must be turned over to the crew for proper storage when boarding the vessel. Nothing should be hanging loose on backpacks. Please label all gear, including fuel and water bottles with your name.

Please DO NOT bring, as they WILL NOT transport the following items -
- Items weighing more than 45 lbs (Including ice chests)
- Kayaks with gear stored inside
- Loose Gear
- Glass Containers
- Kayaks without a 6 - 8 foot bow line with clip
- Items stored in paper bags
- outboard motors or rubber rafts
- Carts or wagons
- more than 2 scuba tanks per person

Return:
Leaving Santa Cruz Island 6/12/05 at 4pm with return to Ventura Harbor at 5pm.

Campsites have been reserved and are approximately 1/4 to 1/2 mile from beach

There are toilets in the campground (Regular Camping toilets)

There is running water in the campground

Fires are OK in beach fire rings, but artifical logs, such as Duraflame logs must be taken to be burned.

Payment must be made to Cobra Kayaks no later than 5/25/05

This is going to be a trip to remember, so sign up early and reserve your spot. Family, Kids, Wives, Etc. are ALL welcome on the trip, so Join Eagle Eye, C-Level, Ed Whited, and their families for a real excursion

For information, questions, additional details, and to sign up, contact Todd Groessl at c.level@cobrakayaks.com

Todd will be handling the sign up sheet and assisting with booking this trip.

Again, payment MUST be received no later than 5/25/05 and can be done by arranging with Todd to pay by CC through Glenys at Cobra Kayaks, or by mailing a check or money order to -

Sounds like an amazing trip.  I believe this is the weekend of our bi-annual Kayak Derby (Santa Cruz) and the La Jolla SCI trip.

Well hell... that's no fun. I always hate scheduling conflicts.

If you can make it though... let us know quick. As of this morning I think there was only 2 or 3 spaces left.

I can't make this trip.  I would definately be interested in a future trip, even if you did a shorter 2 night trip (Fri - Sun).  Keep us posted.

There is a chance... I repeat, a CHANCE... that we may be adding a boat to come out Friday.

This would be a 3 day, 2 night portion, which would give us access to 36 kayaks and many more friends, as well as family members.

If we book the 4 day really quickly, and there is still interest from guys like you, I'll see what I can do about increasing the load.

I think it would be a blast to have 30+ kayak fisherman camping, hiking and swapping lies over at Santa Cruz for a great weekend.

I'll keep you all posted.

Ric

Man I wish I could go on this trip.  Unfortunately I will be packing for 10 days at Rancho Leonero.  This trip though is a solid indicator of the yak fishing support being ponied up by Cobra.  They have even better things up there sleeve...stay tuned.

I sent an e-mail for 3 spaces and am still waiting to hear back. btw, what is the cancellation policy. Can I turn my spaces over to someone else should a scheduling conflict come up?
