What is the CA F&G laws concerning using your kayak to get to a remote shore to fish when the boat fishing season is close?  How do you prove that your take was from the shore and not the kayak?

You can't have the fish on your boat if th season is closed to boat based angling.

Thanks.  Too long of drive and effort for "catch and release."

You can always take a spear and get in the water. Just leave all the fishing tackle onshore.

Thought I'd hit the General comments, not the classified

I found the regulation in the F&G booklet:  "No vessel or watercraft (motorized or non-motorized) may be used to assist in taking or possessing these species while angling from shore under this provision."  Now if I could just get clarification on the definition of "assist."  I would not be using the kayak for assisting in the casting or catching, just for transportation.

I'll error on the side of caution, and just not fish. . . . . NOT!

Hard to argue you aren't using the kayak to assist in possessing the fish when the fish are physically on your boat.

Transportation = assistance. This is a dead end unfortunately.
