Here's my summary outline, so far:

Speed:

Slow as possible that keeps blades of lure just turning.
1.8 to 2.1 mph

Location:

Inside bends.
Holes – even if only few inches deeper
Slots where salmon swim upriver
Eddies where salmon rest

Trolling path:

Move from side to side to search for salmon. (and holes and slots)

Technique:

Keep lure within 1 foot or less of bottom
Back troll or back bounce wiggle warts

Gear:

Rod with sensitive tip to monitor “pulse” of lure
Spreaders
Weights

Lures:

Silvertrons
Spoons
Wiggle warts

Other ideas:

Use sonar to find holes and slots

New questions: Do you use GPS to follow exact rolling passes?  Mark holes and slots with waypoints?  Mark boat location of each hit with a waypoint?  Use GPS at all?

Thanks for helping a newbie get started.
