Hi all, new here.

I'm just now getting back in to fishing after a priority in life change. I figured what better way to come back then to get into kayak fishing. I've kayaked a few times in the past and enjoyed it every time so I ended up buying one just recently. Fishing and kayaking together just seem like a blast. I ended up buying a 14' WS Tarpon 100 in desert camo. I wanted a more compact kayak since I will probably spend a lot of time @ Mather lake (live 2 minutes away) and an occasional excursion to the AR and rancho seco, so I wanted something easy to transport. I've only had a chance to take it out once, without poles but I'm loving the little yak so far. I've added a couple flush mount rod holders on the back and a holder up front... Now I'm looking at fish finders. Super excited to be here and hopefully I'll meet some of you.

Matt

Welcome aboard.
Are you sure you didn't get a tarpon 140?
A Tarpon 100 is 10' long, the 140 is 14' long.

Hi Mike, I'm over in lndependence. I'll shoot you a message when I plan on heading out there with my poles. I'll probably get some more paddling practice in before I drop some line in the water.

Might of been more clear if I typed 2014 instead of 14' :)

How is fishing at mather lake?

The fishing at Mather seemed to have gotten worse over the last few years. There is a large population of fisherman that feel they need to keep everything they catch  :smt011. There were a few tourney bass guys who lived in the area and would dump there tourney bag fish into the lake. I think these guys have moved or just don't do it anymore, it is illegal but I wont tell.  :smt002 Sorry for the slight thread jack Matt.
