If you don't mind the extra weight and cost, I'd go with the tandem and leave the adv. as is. I've seen a used one go for ~5k on CL and some even come with a trailer.

I have an early 2011 without a fin rudder and plan on keeping it that way because I transport it upside down and it would be harder to lift it up from the ground with the fin rudder.

I ordered the "Hobie Island Conversion Kit" and it was on backorder for what seemed like forever (and ever, and ever, and...). I finally canceled the order, figuring it was getting so late that I wouldn't get much use out of it this year anyway. Maybe that was a good move, since the new upgrades for 2015 might make me rethink things...

Yeah, I'm definitely going to look at the new AI.  Looks like a drier, faster ride, easier to rig, but perhaps more effort to transport.  I'm wanting it for HMB, so won't need to transport very far.  In an ideal world I'd just permanently park it at CCK in HMB.

I'm not sure where those 12 foot amas will go on my truck though.

Transport will definitely be a challenge. In any case, I'm thinking maybe I should try to beat the rush and put my 2012 Adventure (no Island) on the market sooner rather than later. On the other hand, one can never have too many Hobies...
