CLEAR LAKE - Wrap up, Reports, Picts, ect.

Wow, wtg Mike, James, and Jim on putting on a great tourny. Looks and sounds like everyone had a great time.too bad I had to miss it. Congrats to all the winners. Sorry to hear about the poor service from ES, thats BS. Damn Rob, could never stay out of trouble..  

Big thanks for the hard work that went into this tourney, and congrats to the leader board.  The fish were around but awfully tight lipped.  I launched just after 5am after getting my wirstband and schwag bag (the Red Bull and Cliff bar were much appreciated!), and plotted a course to the State Park area.  My prior experience on Clear Lake consisted of two family trips for a combined one-hour on the water, and that was years ago.  I wanted to cover some water and check the place out, hitting spots that looked fishy along the way.  First spot produced a chunky little 14"er, and with the skunk off before the sun was up my hopes for limit of bass were pretty high.  Kept working the Senko and Scum Frog around the tules for nada, also found a few bass guarding beds that didn't want to play.  Chatted with a few PB'ers, everyone was having a pretty slow day with a few fish taken on frogs. 

By this time I was halfway to Lakeport, decided to make my way back and ran into BullShark who was sitting on a limit of sunfish, a tactic that really paid off for him.  I found a pile of bluegill's hanging in a tule pocket, downsized the gear and caught a handful, but only grabbed a pic of one figuring the rest just weren't worth it.  Bad idea.  Just 2 little points would've kicked me into the prizes.  Oh well, lesson learned.   

Miles traveled: 8.33
Caught: 14" LMB, 3.5" LMB (personal smallest bass record  ), half-dozen bluegill

Wow what an amazing experiance!!!! This was my first NCKA get together and my first non year long tournament/competition. I want to thank all of the organizers and sponsers for making such a great event for all of us to attend, you all far exceeded my expectations!!!  Yes catching fish was awesome, yes winning some badass prizes was awesome but getting to meet and hangout with the crew was the highlight! Most of you I only knew from the internet and to put faces to some names was great!! I wish I would of had the time to talk with everyone but I guess thats why there are more events   Here is a few pics and a couple of short video clips from thurs and firday.

Yeah my buddies give me crap for making too much noise when I hook into a fish. But I can't help it, I love fly fishing. When that lines gets ripped when I'm striping it in just can't be beat.
