Great job Bryan, count me in to help out where needed. If there is anything I can bring just let me know.

Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

I believe were going to need a flyer for this one….

I'm still working on the contacts and it's a run around… what I think what will basically happen on my end is they will request a flyer ( they already have ) to put on the VA outreach…

my concern with this is getting too many participants… but we'll see what comes…

  right now,

I need some details…

where, when, and a point of contact as we are going to request that anyone wanting to participate needs to call and RESERVE a spot.

We need a flyer…

So, list up the details, who is the POC… we should get this out tomorrow …  2 weeks on a before a veterans day weekend, most likely lot of other events going on,

but lets see…  we don't need a ton of participants to get this off the ground, but we should get this going ASAP

Hey Don,

I will be the POC, just waiting on the insurance info you and I are working on.

Because lake is in gated community with 24 hour security guard checking I.D's of non-residents I will have to get them added to gate list anyway.

we still need an address,

start time and a contact number/email that you do not mind being on a flyer that will be distributed through the VA

Hey Everyone,

Been working on this for a few days now. We did get the insurance in place for an event. Don and I have been talking to different people in the area, there has been several offers of support but Nov 8 seems to be too short of notice.

Everyone I have talked to appreciates what NCKA and HOW are trying to do at the same time suggesting we take our time and plan something for next spring. We now have some contacts with local POW group and VA services.

I am willing to take this on, do the leg work and with Don's assistance and other NCKAer's set up a local HOW chapter, it is looking very positive for annual or semi-annual event.

Next couple weeks are looking like rainy period anyway, suggest we get all the paperwork done this winter and work on an event for April or May, I think we can put the Vets on a lot of 5 and 6 lb bass if we wait and plan accordingly.

You guys have been doing a great job at getting this all put together.

Is there a reason why a new chapter is being started instead of operating under the N. Cal chapter and assigning a local liaison for different areas.  I understand we don't want Don getting overwhelmed with to many events, but had the opinion more volunteers in any given chapter would make it stronger. I would like to see an event on the coast but would consider helping to make that possible in the future instead of starting a new chapter.  Sorry if there is some reason you can't address in this forum but I was just curious.  I understand certain states are so big this needs to be done for example S. Cal, central and north.  Is there a magic number of events that a given chapter should handle or something based on distance.

In my mind it would be like NCKA having a redding chapter even though it falls within the Nor Cal Kayak Anglers area.

That sounds good. I love fishing in the rain but I don't think we want this event to be rained out. I was a little worried about water temps even. If anyone rolled in November they would be miserable.

I think that's the safe and sane way to go at this point.  With Veterans weekend on the 11/8, most vets and vet support services already have scheduled events and like ya said, possibility of rain always makes it a bit more challenging.

Ya had a taste of what it's like with details, and really, that's the hard and time consuming part.  The events are great!  We will be there to assist in anyway, in cluding throwing the events under Nor Cal HOW if need be.

But,

To answer DG's question,

with Redding basically 4 hours away, it's a logistics problem.  It's hard enough to keep tract of everything and keep up with contacts etc… in my own backyard, can't imagine trying to organize Redding from here, remember, this is all volunteer.  If ya knew how much time I put in to this, basically most everyday, you would know why we need separate chapters. A logical question, and it could all run under Nor Cal HOW, but that would be a ton more put onto my plate and I need help with what were doing now.

Texas I believe has 4 or 5 chapters, they do support each other, but for the good of the program, it's just best if locals take on what is in their area.

Again though, were all here to support each other.

Looking forward to helping "Jefferson HOW " get off the ground…   :smt003

That's Awesome BTW….  not that ya have to go with that and maybe should not as it's not really a location, yet, but I like the idea…

I've seen plenty of signs going up 5 that say "Welcome to the State of Jefferson the 51st state"
so if it's not a location it's at least a state of mind!

Thanks for explaining and I know you put in a lot of time.  It's noticed and appreciated even though that's not why you do it.

Good idea to table this event for this year, it will be better to have more time to get it together.
