When I was a kid I hiked to a spring up in the Tahoe area and drank the sweetest water I've ever tasted.  Years later I saw a TV program (maybe it was bay area backroads) showing people filling jugs of water that was suppose to originate from a spring.

I'm going camping up in the McCloud/Shasta area and was wondering if there were springs up there that I can fill a jug to drink.

Thanks,
Nate

Funny you post this today, I had a day trip to Kfalls Ore. today, and on my way back stopped off at the park in Mt. Shasta to fill my water bottles. The Headwaters of the Sac. river start in the park in Mt. Shasta, and IS the best water you can drink lol !!!!

There is an awesome one at Horse Camp on the Sierra Club property. 2 mile hike in, totally worth it, you can talk to the cabin steward and chat up the climbers. This is the right time of year. Last year I was up there last week of June and it was cool. An 11 year old girl summited that day!

Can't help you with wilderness springs, but when ever me & missus are up that way, we drive through the town of Dunsmuir and somewhere in town there is a stone fountain that's always running.  We fill our water bottles & canteens from it.

If you don't mind a short hike there is a spring in Castle Crags State Park just south of Mt Shasta.  Best water I've ever had

The water out of the city tap there  tastes just as good as the best bottled water you ever had. Comes out ice cold too.
