I want to thank everyone who came up to Anchor Bay and participated in this great event. I was talking with Tess & the other workers there and they all said how they enjoyed having us and how we are always welcome back. So thank you for showing what a class act our club is.

I had a killer time at LRC. I've been jonesin for some saltwater fishing for the last few weeks.   Up here in humboldt the season closed at the end of October.  This was most likely gonna be my last saltwater trip of the year...and Anchor Bay did not disappoint!

Thanks Mike and all the other event coordinators for all the hardwork.  Thanks to all the volunteers for stepping up.  Thanks to the sponsors for everything too.

Jenn and I arrived late Thursday night.   We got an early paddle in down Gualala river to the mouth(which is closed off by sandbar).  Beautiful spot.   Then we made it over to Anchor Bay to check out logistics for event.   It was kind of confusing dealing with the camp office on all the day use fees.  $5 for the car, $5 bucks each for the 2 yaks on top of the car and $3 for each person in the car! Holy s@&t!  I'm gonna miss that kidney someday! :smt044

Beach was awesome.  Blue water, sunshine, and soft sand.  Surf was pretty rough. Jenn was having a lil freak out about me paddling out in these conditions.   We stayed and watched all the kids chasing birds, dogs chasin each other and divers chasin abs.  Lulls between sets were pretty long making a launch even in these conditions doable at the chicken cove launch site.  It assuaged her fears.

Next morning at 5 I was back at the beach unloading gear.  Eye candy sunset and beautiful water conditions. Said some hellos and got otw.

I caught a lot of lings from 26-30".  They were all pretty fat and feisty!  Best kind. The rockfish bite was pretty hot too!  I caught a ton of blues, a few blacks, a couple nice coppers and a canary.   The latter 2 I had never caught before, so that was pretty sweet.  I didn't catch any prize winning hawgs or win any of the raffle prizes but goddamn I had a blast.  I met some cool people, did some awesome fishing, got to see a part of the coast I hadn't seen yet, and spent a great weekend with my woman. That's what it's all about!

I am extremely happy! Thank You all for attending our first annual Lowrance Rockfish Classic. I have to admit I was a bit nervous about having this event at Anchor Bay due to the limited size of the campground. Well, everything turned out great and it seems like smiles and laughter were everywhere. Our sponsors really stepped up and we gave away almost $4,000.00 in cash and prizes.

For next year I have reserved the entire campground (Fri and Sat night), Saturday Nov 14th. I'll be working something out with Anchor Bay Campground. Once I have something set I will post it up.

I want to thank all the LRC volunteers...

Jim(rockfish), James (Rider0 - my co-chairs did a great job as always!
Bill (FishingForTheCure) and fellow Lowrance Prostaff - Insight Genesis contest

I had an amazing time Mike!!!! Thanks so much for all the work you and James did on this. Plus everyone else who had a hand in it. It was a great, great way to spend some time with all the people who have come to mean so much to me. All the Sonoma homies and the safety squad love you muthas to death. I got to witness some new stuff. Mexican Fire Walker Adam Coca doing his thang at the bonfire. Walking the beach at night with Victor and Erik and seeing thousands of sand fleas gorging on bull kelp stalks.  Never saw that before. The potluck was so fun and Texas Boy was the comedian with the BBQ. I laughed my ass off every other moment. Dustin, your kids are sooooo GD cute man. What a great place for the kids to play. Im bringing my grandkids next year.

I could only manage three of the five rockfish specie. That copper and a china eluded me. The ling didn't. Its a big ocean and luck plays a huge part in putting you lure in the 1ft square slot for the strike. I was fortunate. That's all. Thanks Lowrance for a combo unit that is just about the coolest thing I've seen. I wont even need my GD glasses to see that sucka. hahahahah

The bathrooms were clean. The grounds immaculate. the potluck area couldn't have been better. Congrats Joe!!!! You Bomb from Guam. :smt003 :smt006  Everyone was truly a winner who came out for this. I didn't want to go home. Ever

The last pic is when I got too close to the herd and like 50 jumped in the water and charged the kayak. I was like WTF!!!!!!! No time for anymore pics. heheheh see you later you foul smelling bitches. :smt008

Everyone did a fantastic job putting on the event. The staff at AB campground was tops. Thanks for all the hard work so we could all have a fun time. Thanks to all the sponsors. I like my new net, measuring board and kayak rental. How much was raised for "Pay It Forward"? I see I came in 26th out of 26 in both categories. Woo hoo" better than getting skunked! Maybe we need a most improved category next year.  :smt044 I thought I was going to get a nice crab harvest but it was one crab caught and one crab trap lost. I guess my Danielson trap landed on a rocky spot and got stuck. I tried to get it Friday and Saturday with no luck. I'm hoping it will work itself free and I will be able to get it later. If anyone is out there, feel free to give it a tug. It is 50-100 yards out from the rock, straight out from the ramp. Red and white float with my name, phone and NCKA handle written on it. I love the photos. We have some good photographers in this group. I'm looking forward to doing it again next year!  :smt006

I will start off by giving a BIG THANK YOU to Mike and Kara for visualizing the Lowrance Rockfish Classic at Anchor Bay and seeing it through it's successful completion. It was my first time to this campground and awesome fishing location as I was impressed with the launch/exit for the kayak angler! I love me some chicken!(cove that is).
The support crew for this event was pretty much flawless. Bill Fishingforthecure even gave some otw support for a brother who needed help with his Lowrance during the tourney! When I heard this, I truly believed that the tournament had reached another level of excellence.
Thanks again to James who was everywhere doing everything! Dude, what was in your coffee?
Thanks to Jim for event support and fire baked oysters! Thanks to Kara, Amos, and basschucker for the early morning check-in and logistics! Thanks to Eric and Tony for rallying on the potluck! Whatever happens in AB stays in Ab, lol!

I had fun fishing with everyone and hanging out at the bonfire! I appreciate the fact that there is a great group of folks that love the sport of kayakfishing as much as I do!

Big kudos to Solsrf1 and Jimgosc for hanging with a brother!

Thank You All!

Thanks Mike for putting this together, and everyone else that helped. Everything was smooth sailing, and the weather and fishing were fantastic.
Big congrats to Joe-Bloodbath, you did it again Bro!, and to Craig-Ravensblack, two ling jackpots in a row!
Sunday morning conditions were flat and fishy, with Tiny having his best ling day ever, and Fishunter killing it on light tackle with a 21"er.
Can't wait for LRCII, Goz
