I launched from the Warm Springs ramp at about 11 a.m.  The air temp was in the high 70s and the surface water was 72.  It was my first time there and I followed advice on this site to try near the dam.  I trolled for trout parallel to the dam in 50-60 FOW but marked very few fish.  At the far end of the dam near some drowned trees I marked a number of fish but they weren't interested in my trout chow trolling fly or my Mepps spinner.  I trolled back parallel to the dam in 70-80 FOW but again marked very few fish.  Maybe the trout have gone deeper with the warming water.  If so I'm out of luck for now because I don't have a downrigger and I can't get down deeper than about 80 ft.  The wind was moderate and the overcast turned to clear so it was a nice day to be OTW.

I fished last weekend, both mornings, and hooked only one fish. I was able to fish deep as well. No real need to fish deeper than 80', I thinks.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

If the steelhead aren't cooperating you can always bass fish!  I caught these two along with a 4lber and 5lber one morning up there while fishing with my son and another NCKA member from yaks.

Those are some heavy duty bass!  Next time I'll start earlier so I'll have time to go for both steelhead and bass.
