Trying to find anybody who uses an Eddyline and dives out of it. My concern is the center hatch and putting side pressure on it while entering yak from water.

I haven't yet but I've thought about the same thing and will be buying a separate dive kayak.

I might try diving out of it this weekend but I'll remove the hatch cover.

Heard about you winning the Eddyline bro!  Congratulations you lucky guy!  Sorry don't know anything about diving using an Eddyline but if you are worried about getting back in you might asked Victor.  He was able to self rescue fine at Albion.

Bill, the center hatch flexes with a certain amount of pressure from the sides.  Your only option maybe getting a Scott No. 438 Gear-Head Track Adapter to use on the opposing side as a grabbing tool.  The downside with this adapter is when you tighten it down real good by itself then later wanting to reposition or take it out won't work because it's stuck.  The adapter opening mechanism, once tighten down good, works in conjunction with any other Scott rod extender or rod holder to be able to twist to lossen counter clockwise.  So that means getting another Scotty extender or rod holder if you don't have one already.

I am not a diver but a rotomolded kayak seems like a better way to go than a thermoform kayak. Carbon lite will crack in a loaded impact so if your throwing heavy stuff like weight belts or oxygen tanks in the tank well not the best choice. I'm going to be at DV on Sunday for some paddling and self rescue practice with Karen and Molly.

Bill/Angel,

I bet if you remove that hatch cover thing you will have no problem jumping in and out...just be careful with weightbelt in tank well...

Angel, text me bro and we'll go give it a try.  :smt003

First of all, congrats on the new kayak. It went to a great home! I slide up on the kayak to mess with my fish finder or whatever I can't reach from the seat. I haven't had a problem with it yet and that's a lot of weight on it. I say give it a try and see how it works out for you, and give us a report on what you think. Since Eddyline is still fairly new to the sit on top market, there are not many divers who use it. It will be great to see some reports from you.

Welcome to the Eddyline family :smt006

Good to know Victor!

The other thing to watch out for Bill is anything that can snag and possibly rip/tear your suit when getting on/off...those dive suits aint cheap so its worth a little time looking at the yak to see if you need to remove any pad eyes or whatever that could possibly act as snags...

Looking forward to seeing you in action on the new yak dude!!

I dive out of my current designs altura a lot.  It is fiberglass and more durable than you would think.  I haven't cracked anything on the deck getting in and out.  The only thing I can say is make sure you clear all the accessories from the side you enter and exit the boat from or you will tear your suit. I use this yak when its rough and I need something more buoyant and stable than my tarpon 160.
