Bean Hollow

This is my favorite answer so far.   :smt044

I'd say Santa Cruz is easy.

For salmon just wait till next month for the river opener and hit up the rio vista area.
I did some River salmon fishing last year. I'm looking to do it again this year. I am looking to fish the American River, Benicia, and maybe rio vista or clarksburg as well. I figure the closer to the ocean they are, the better the condition of the fish. I want to fish for them in the ocean as well, just for the experience if nothing else. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.

I think something was lost in the translation.  :smt002 I'd love to hear when they arrive. I've fished the Howe launch because it is a spot where my wife could manage the water. If you know a good spot I'd love to hear about that as well.

About how far out from Bodega are the salmon in July?

They were around the first buoy last year in July. About 2-2.5 miles from Doran Beach, an easy paddle. Try to give the seal haul out some distance.  It's pretty easy to figure out where to fish when the bite is on because the will be a lot of boats working the area. Look for birds and bait and you are good to go. Always turn to avoid boats, it's easier for us to turn than them even though we have right of way. It can be a zoo out there so be polite and maintain situational awareness at all times.
