I may be looking for a partner to team up.  I have 1 prospect but unsure at this point.

I'll be coming over from Redding and have never fished Trinidad from a kayak.  Lots of time from a PB though.

I have limited experience but I'm no dummy either so it won't be a babysitting trip  :smt002

Just putting a feeler out so if anyone is interested, post or PM

It would be nice to know what type of rod its going to be.  Sato does some nice rods, but is it going to be like any of the pictures you posted this time.  I heard nothing but complaints about the ones given away at the last Rockfish Wars.

I'm sorry you guys felt that way about the rods. Last years rods were last minute (they showed up the day before the tournament) and our budget for the rods was about 1/2 what it is for this tourament. We all know Sato make some great rods, that's why I asked him to make some for our tournament. This is the first I've heard of this. I really appricate the feedback. This years rods will be much nicer. If we do it, I just need to give him propper time. Right now it's almost three months out. Thanks again for the feedback.

OK, signed up this AM. . .but I'm not fishing for prizes. Any others want to join my TEAM as "cheerleader"?  :blob5: How about Jolie?

Janice,
Jolie is definitely looking forward to it. In fact she talks about you and your Emily, even going so far as asking to be called Little J. Our campsites at the beautiful Emerald Forest Campground are about 100 feet apart, much too far for her liking.  :smt044 The camping, fishing, and camaraderie all stand to be outstanding.

I didn't mean to be a downer for the event with the Sato rod review, I just don't want any future winners to feel duped when they were expecting a high quality rod as a prize.

As for the event and event hosts: The Pacific Outfitters guys (Oestroms sp? and Cajun) are all nice guys, and Trinidad Head is a great place to host a tournament.  I highly recommend attending this tournament, and I plan to attend it in the future. The thing about TRW, is it has the potential to be a great tournament, and the only thing separating it from the great tournaments (such as Albion & Gimme Shelter) is the execution of namely: delivering promised prizes and organization of the awards ceremony.  I know that a lot of work goes into hosting TRW, and I fully appreciate what the Pacific Outfitters guys do to make TRW happen.

Just registered and feeling pretty good that it's all going to come together nicely. We definitely need to change the way this tournament was headed and get some more people to participate. I don't really think I have what it takes to place in the top of this tournament but would really like to see the participants happy with what they win. Personally I will be happy with a TRW shirt which I haven't seen in the last two years of participating. As for next year it would be nice to have a date set earlier so more people can plan this event into their summer.-Jeremy

If you look at previous entry forms its always asked what shirt size you wear and so I assumed a tee shirt was going to be given to every registered participant. Well to my knowledge that never happened for me or anyone else and was a little disapointed.  I'd be happy to pitch in extra for the registration to get one. Or maybe I'll just make some bad ass team tee shirts.

When you sign up for the tournament on our on-line site, when it asks you the fishing regulations, it also asks you your shirt size. I see that a few, only a few, of you left that blank. Don't worry, I know you signed up in time and I will personally reach out to you to get your shirt size. That is also, why I had you put your NCKA name down, so I can track you down if there are any problems. Thanks again and I look forward to seeing everyone out there!

Nice reverse psychology trash-talk, Jeremy!  You could win this thing with one eye closed.   :smt001

We never want anyone feeling duped, shafted, short changed or anything else.  :smt003 We have a great crew of four people helping out, putting this tournament together. Last year is was one and a half. With me being the half person. In two weeks we should be able to post what most of our prizes are going to be. We also created a new TRW logo for our shirts. I will show you that very soon.

In the past it has been a charity tournament with proceeds going toward local charities. That is one reason for not as big of prizes or shirts. almost all prizes in previous TRW were donated,

The tournament will be bigger with prizes being purchased and that seems to be what most people want. My purpose was local charities in need and still is...
