Thanks Scott, Well said.  Some of the best times fishing so far were with my boys, in  a canoe in some high sierra lakes, loved every second of the untangling, desnagging etc.....  but it is worth every second!  Maybe work up to two tandems, see if my wife want to go out with my older boy and I can take on my younger boy.

Thanks for all of the input, Ill keep my eye out for a 2xl or tribe.

I started out my kayak fishing career paddling a Cobra Triple, with a partner, but more often than not I paddled it single.

I've had a few doubles in my time including an OK Malibu 2XL and a Malibu Pro2.  These are way less than ideal for carrying 3 comfortably.  The 2XL paddles from the middle for single use.  The Pro2 does not and paddling single from the back seat causes the bow to ride too high IMO, so isn't very suitable for single paddling.

Paddling a Triple with only one person will certainly develop your paddle strength!
