Is it albacore time yet?

I know there must be some surface warming going on with this HOT weather, but it looks like there is a lot of 60 degree water out there.  And what's that hotspot just off Cordell?

We went out the other day and noticed some very warm water near ft Bragg.  Also heard some albacore were caught 8 miles out so they're getting closer.

According to Bayside, some boats tried out of SC today.  Went down south.  Didn't find any clear water or fish.  They'll be here SOON!

Albacore is on my bucket list this year,  please keep a thread goping on this!  Of course, my luck the greatest albacore fishing will happen June 7th - 21st ...right while I am off for my two week ANuual National Guard training

If u take a look at the chloro shots, it's not quite there yet.  Boats ran on Wednesday to the Davidson.  Found off colored water but it was 59 deg.  No fish though.  I think we still need a good push and another couple weeks.  These fish have a long way to traval from the western pacific.
For the most part, I think the reports from Oregon are BS.  People always pull stuff to get others to do the dirty work of scouting for them.  Up north, they go so far as put carcasses from last year in the garbage next to ramps to make people think they are freshly caught.  Now that is funny stuff.

I will be one of the first to try a run if I hear concrete reports or conditions look favorable.   I get reports from commercial boats sometimes.  The earliest I have caught them was July 1st, the previous El Niño.  Think it was 2005.   This is shaping up to be a good one.

There needs to be a mother boat to put some yaks on one of those.

I can't wait either. Bought some tuna lures and some hand cables to try out.  This will be the first year I go and will leave out of ft Bragg,  so please update legitimate reports when available.

I canned and ate a bunch of fresh tuna last year and can't touch the store bought any more. 

So this year will be trying it out and sharing gas on other's boats, but if it gets me hooked maybe I will have a boat capable of going next year. 

Inspired by this thread, i actually made spicy albacore rolls and sashimi (albacore of course) from some fresh vacuum sealed stuff from last fall.

still so yummy...

Monterrey buoy hit 59 this evening.  It was 56.5 this time yesterday.
