Fishfinders! Navionics Vs. Bluechart

I'm a Pro Staff.  I train the salespeople and retail employees like West Marine, Bass Pro, Land & Sea, Port Supply, etc...  My close friends are the two western USA employees/reps for Navico handling most of the USA sales.  I han shag questions and problems.  The easiest is thru West Marine since I'm close friends with a lot of the local managers (since I was one for many years).  The Lowrance HD chip I believe has mlpa zones.  I'll look tomorrow since I just got my latest 2014 chip.  I think Avionics Platinum does too but not 100% certain.  I know the only west coast employee for them & can put you in touch if needed.

You can mark waypoints to set boundaries for zones but you can't form a shaded area on the screen.

My Gold Navionics chip has the Carmel Pinnacles SMR preloaded. Its my first season using it and haven't paid attention.
You can get the gps numbers and put them in and change to a unique icon.  THats what I've done in the past. Get a CHRIP unit since you're starting fresh.

I'm looking to shell out some fairly serious coin and I do really want a CHIRP unit. The CHIRP 5 won't be out until June I guess, but I was hoping to buy later this week. Do you know what the difference is between the 50/200 455/800 and the 83/200 455/800 transducers for the CHIRP 7 are?

Yes Navionics Platinum has the MLPAs on it.
