Thinking about heading out 5/19.  Will be the first time out on the yak.  Not sure where to go.  I'm in Suisun and I'm down to travel to the delta or even somewhere on the coast (so long as it doesn't exceed 2 hr travel max).  Anyone down?

Sorry, just to clarify, this will be your first time out on this particular kayak or your first time out on any kayak ?

I've been on kayaks many times before but not for recreation not fishing.  This would be the first for fishing.

I always recommend going local for your shakedown cruise - that way if you figure out anything is wrong or forget something, you're close to home.  plenty of good areas around suisun to paddle and fish.

Good luck or your first venture!

Quick tip... Keep it SIMPLE for your first couple yak fishing trips. One rod (not your favorite), one net (or not), a couple lures, a snack and water, and your life vest. Many folks end up in the drink the first time they try to combine kayaking and fishing. If you keep it simple and keep things leashed to your kayak, it will be rather uneventful... If you bring all your favorite gear and don't leash it, that's another story...
