Hey everyone
So I have been wanting to upgrade my current eye protection and from what I hear Costa sunglasses are the bees knees but my only issue is the $200+ price tag I know they are suppose to be great and you get what you pay for and all that jazz but I have a hard time ponying up the 200 clams for a pair of glasses so does anyone out there have the hook up on Costa they would like to share

I have purchased several pairs on steepandcheap.com

It's only one deal at a time, but keep checking and they will eventually come around.

Costa is, from what I remember when I was a dealer, a "regulated" product so it rarely goes on sale or discounted greatly.  Sometimes you can find a shop that discounts a little or has a "closeout" model.  Problem is, each style fits a little different, etc. so so need to know what style you are looking for & search from there.

I know I'm a sun glass junkie and have found Costas to be the most comfortable and Kool,,,

Become one of these kats with all the sponsorship under their avitars and costa will put ya on their team too,,,

That's happened to me when I was playing that game and they basically threw them at me,,,

I now just buy them and don't deal with team member stuff and worth every penny,,,

I see you're in Lodi but the local mom & pop sporting goods store, Mel Cottons, in San Jose has a 20% coupon going until Wednesday.

If you know what you want and you call to find that MC has them in stock, I'll pick some up for you.  You going to be at GS8?

Mel Cottons: 408 287 5994

For what it's worth, I got a pair of Costas from Mel Cottons but didn't get a $200 pair.  Think maybe they were $120 or $140 - don't remember as it was a few years ago.

Are you sure you want to wear a $200 pair of sunglasses on the water? I have lost a couple pairs of expensive sunglasses while fishing. :smt013

I think I have a pro-deal with them, which should translate to 30-50% off of msrp.

Yes I'm sure, and I do.  High quality optics go a long way.  In fact yesterday, they helped me see the 1000's of shad that I was NOT catching, when some of the others weren't seeing them.   :smt013

I saw shad  :smt003  I am on my 4th or 5th pair of bolle phantoms (25-$40), and for the price they are damn good shades.

I get many different sunglasses sent my way to try/demo.  I never wore Costas until about a year ago.  Now, the glass ones are at the top of my list.  The optics are brilliantly clear and the glass is tough as nails.  Other good sunglasses I've come across (and use) are Kaenon and Smith.  I'm pretty hard on sunglasses, and most pairs last me about a year, maybe 2 if I manage to not scratch/scuff them right in the middle (which is where I'm likely to scratch them). I think I might get 2 years out of a pair of Costas before they just get worn out from (ab)use, but I think the glass will outlast that time.

Costa can also put a prescrition in them for a little extra $ if I remember correctly.  Yes, they ARE worth the $$$ IF you don't loose, destroy or have them stolen first.  :smt003

What about Maui Jim's? Same price point. ODP sells Costas and I haven't heard anything bad about them. Try eyesave.com

Get some cheap Polarized Maui Jim's/smith/spy's at Costco. Not worth losing some nice glasses in the water. Also get sunglass straps
