help rigging a handle onto a pvc pipe

I've been trying to make a clam gun with Nudling's patient help.  The gun is made from PVC and I need to attach a handle onto the body of the tube.  I'm trying not to drill holes into the PVC but rather attach a handle by using hose clamps or something similar.  Looking for ideas and suggestions.

What will be the purpose of the handle?
Do you want it parallel with the tube or horizontal to it?

I made two of those, but didn't put a handle on it, good luck!

Here's a pic of my shrimp gun...I didn't build it. I bought it.  Looks like a coupler with a joint of some sort. But the pipe is only 2". If your gun is 3" maybe you can find something similar.

Would a metal angle brace clamped to the tube work?

I think an angle brace would be rough on the hands as a handle.

I suppose it would be easy enough to add some padding of some kind.

It sometimes comes wrapped in a banana hammock 

In that case, I thought it was already a handle... Would adding one be one of those weird body mods like a prince albert piercing?
