I don't go after rockfish in Monterey as they have been hit so hard that it will take decades for them to recover. They don't reach sexual maturity for anywhere from 12-22 years depending upon the species.

For lings Carmel Bay is good and easy to beach launch from Stillwater Cove in Pebble Beach. By law they have to provide public access to the beach and to the pier for that matter.

And we are entering the time for catching halibut in Monterey Bay.

At first I thought this was DaveW, did not know there is a Dave W. also.

Confusing!

Yeah, I'm like having an identity crisis.

Also, I had good luck with lings last winter jigging small swimbaits from rocks.  Lings come in close in winter to spawn,
