Welcome to the madness, Ryan.

I fish over at Shadow Cliffs for trout. That's another place you can go. No need to pay for mussel inspections.

I was planning on heading over there sometime soon, actually! It's half the drive from my house. What kind of fishing bait do you use there?
They started planting catfish in shadow cliffs last week.  There will still be a few lassens planted going forward but they're starting to go deep during the daytime.  I drive by the lake every day and its been quieter than usual recently.  I guess the fishing hasn't been quite as good.  I fished there last friday from shore for an hour and caught 1 trout and had three hits on kastmasters.

BTW, welcome to the boards Ryan.  If you ever see me out there give me a shout.  I'm trying to get out there a little more often the next month or so as I suss out some gear for rockfish season.  I'm always willing to help.

Welcome Ryan.  I am not aware of any other deaf people in NCKA,   but we all speak the same language here--kayakfishing.   To be safe, start out on comfortable days in a body of water that is shallow enough to stand up in if you happen to tip over.  We all fall out at some time, but if it is in warm shallow water,  it is much better.  Look for hookups on the board and go with other kayakers to be safe and to learn about "pimping your yak".  You are going to love it.  I look forward do meeting you.

If you troll, Rapalas and grubs has been productive for me, I've heard others use rainbow runners, too.

I've seen some people floating the Berkley mice tail and you can soak with PowerBait, too.

I heard they've planted catfish already, you can use chicken liver.

It's rock fish season already so I'll be doing that for a while.

Good luck.

Ryan, if you ever decide to kayak fish on the bay or ocean, check out the DeLorme inReach SE 2-Way Satellite Communicator. SPOT is cheaper but less functionality. Ideally you have a buddy with you who has the same device.

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.

People aren’t supposed to look back. I’m certainly not going to do it anymore.”

Ryan,

I remembered that one of our members (LJR) works on a fishing program for deaf youth...I think he may be deaf as well...anyway, if you're interested you should shoot him a PM.

Yup, I noticed that too! I contacted him but have not heard back yet. I have yet to find any deaf adults into Kayak Fishing.

Great Bass 2, I have no plans to venture out into the ocean this year. I figure I should get good at river/lakes first before moving on. When I do, I am definitely getting a transmitter. I am still researching how to deal with the lack of ability to use VHF radio. A non issue right now, but definitely in my plans.
Thresher in avatar and Soupfin Shark in signature both caught and pic taken by me.

Always looking for new people to fish with!

That's a good plan Ryan.
