I've pushed all the buttons and I've tried to read most of the manual, but still I can't figure out how to turn on the picture date stamp.

Has anyone done this with their WPi?

I would rather not have to place my winning fish on a soggy Sunday paper.

Thanks, Al

Sorry, Al. I am trying to work out my Olympus Stylus 720 SW.

No Pentax web site?  Friendly camera store?

I have found the forums at Steve's Digicams site to be helpful in the past.  They have a forum for pentax cams that might help.  You will see a lot of people whining about issues with their cameras but overall there is some good info.

Thanks Brian. I'll check it out.

I did a google and usenet search and people say the WPi can't do it.
They claim to use the provided software to do the date stamp from the photo data.

I'm surprised no one else has tried considering all the Optios we have out here.

I don't have a date stamp on mine either, but the camera always records EXIF info with each photo that includes information like shutter settings, camera settings, camera model, flash on or off, etc... including the date and time the photo was taken.

I checked the NCKA photo gallery and the gallery displays the date/time the photo was taken from the EXIF information.

So if you load your images into the photo gallery, you should be covered in terms of date stamp issues.  IMO.

Concerning the date stamp, I have never even thought about it on my older non waterproof optio.  I always felt like the enhanced time stamp on the file provided plenty of information.  I guess it makes sense that you could post process the pix once you download them and add the stamp to the image.

After just now looking into it, even the freeware program IRFanView lets you insert the time if you draw a box on an image and then click control 'T', there is a button to append date and time.  I am sure my better half will be requesting that option on the baby pix.

EDIT--
IRFanView does NOT insert the EXIF information, but only the current PC time and data which is not ver usefull.  I saw the time and date stamp option were there, I just assumed it was EXIF stuff, guess I should have actually tried it.

Brian... I also use IRFanView and did some checking. The program will insert EXIF data.
Go to the irfanview web site and download the plugin with the exif update an extract to the plugin folder.
Open irfanview and open your picture.
Left click and create a text box.
Click edit, insert text and put $E306 into the the box. Adjust the font size to show correctly.
There is a EXIF code list in the help file.

Here's a sample of the codes, there's more in the help file:
                $E270   -    ImageDescription
   $E271   -    Make
   $E272   -    Model
   $E274   -    Orientation
   $E282   -    XResolution
   $E283   -    YResolution
   $E296   -    ResolutionUnit
   $E305   -    Software
   $E306   -    DateTime
   $E318   -   WhitePoint
   $E531   -    YCbCrPositioning
   $E532   -    ReferenceBlackWhite
   $E33434   -    ExposureTime
   $E33437   -    FNumber
   $E34850   -    ExposureProgram
   $E34855   -    ISOSpeedRatings

Thanks for the help Brian.

Hey Al,

Thanks for of the info.  That is cool, I know my camera came with some great software, but IRFanView is so convenient I use it for a lot of things.

PS.  Watch out in the tourney tomorrow.  I plan to be at Oneil forebay tomorrow and you know some records have been set there.
