Scotty #349 Rodmaster II vs Powerlock - need wider rod holder!

Anyone know if the Scotty Rodmasters are wider than the Power Lock type? The latter are too narrow for my rod butts. Can't find specs...

Q: Can the Rod master hold a wider/fatter rod handle?

I use the rod masters for spare rod holders upright behind my seat. My Ugly stick tigers fit no problem. They have a pretty large butt on them. The power lock holders have a narrower top on them which makes it up harder to fit a wide rod in. They should work fine for you. Actually, I use the rod master, not the rod master two. Now I'm not sure. I think the two is actually a little narrower. The original rod master has no bottomin it and the rod slides all the way through. The two has a bottom I believe.  Sorry for the confusion now.

I believe the power lock has a couple sizes the ones I have are huge. You must have the smaller model

The plot thickens. Damn - I have no idea what model Power Lock I have (if there are different sizes), but they are too narrow for the foam grip rods I have. Seems like they are made for cork grips.

Power lock has an I.d. Of 1.95 what rod are you using that's almost 2" dia?
Rodmaster is only 1.85

Thanks sonoramike. Mine are only 1 5/16" (little over 1.25") i.d. They are actually marked Hobie, but I was told they were re-branded Scotty (came packaged with real Scotty mounts), but maybe not! Doh. Maybe I'll see if s.o. wants to to trade in classifieds.

Just wanted to add this pic of the Scotty rod holder line-up to cap this thread off in case anyone else has the same issue. btw, the Rodmaster II appears to have a removable gimbal pin.

Anyway, I have a want ad in classifieds now...

you probably have the "baitcaster".  I made that mistake when gearing up: bought a couple "baitcasters" and found one of my ocean rods wouldn't fit.    I switched to the "Rodmasters", removed the gimbal pin and have been very happy! 

The beauty of the roadmaster is that it also doubles as a tube to relief yourself without getting it on your legs and smelling like piss later.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure all the scotty gear uses the same post and base dimensions.  If I remember right, I only bought the rodholder part the 2nd time and used the old bases.

Double, hmmm... I suppose you could use it to hold a fishing rod, too.
