Howard's boat / mother ship...

Whoops.  Wrong pic -- here it is...

He managed to squeeze 4 kayaks on that with 2 passengers and a bunch of gear.

They've got massive tidal swings up there, upwards of 15 feet.  Here's what happens when you're paying more attention to a bear in camp than what the tide's doing...

What an amazing opportunity with a truly class group of guys.  I got a lot of support to successfully boat my biggest yak fish.  And yeah, those pacific ones are so heavy for their size.....and their size is cool too!

Wait till Brian tells you what all you can catch on a circle hook......and wow, the run you get out of one in Alaska!!!!!!!!!!......it hurts so bad to laugh this hard........ :smt005

I don't have so many pictures since my camera isn't waterproof.  But here is my favorite memory of the trip...........  I went out the last night to pick up our crab pots in an adjacent cove.  It is the same one in which we saw the spawning salmon.  When I got near the end, the resident bear was strolling the stream.  A few minutes later she came down on the beach.  After watching to see what I was doing, which at that point I was watching to see what she was doing........ :smt107..............she resumed turning over rockets and finding her dinner.  So, I resumed picking up our pots......... :smt004  She casually strolled the beach while I worked only looking up when my radio squelched.  It was wayyyyyyyyyyyyy cool.... :smt003

If you are going to beach your boat chasing a bear out of camp, this is the place to do it.

Accomodations were a bit tight.  Brian, Randy, Allen, Dave.......and they all snored.  But maybe that was in defense of the stinky waders hanging all over the walls.

Fishing was slower than we anticipated after Tim started off with the biggest fish of the trip the first night.  Here is Randy showing one of the MANY Quilbacks we caught and released and also part of what made it an incredible  experience......paddling pristine waters in a remote area where we only saw each other and the fish and game of the area.

Thanks, it's been a while since someone has posted mystery fish for me.

Anyway, mysteries solved...

Looks like a great trip.  I'm looking forward to taking a trip like that again sometime in 2024 when my son goes off to college.

bsteves,  I don't think that's a redbanded, at least not according to the handy rockfish charts we had on the boat.  Guess again.

And what about this one?

Howard had told us of some fun he'd had with baldies.  We tried it, and managed to get it on video...

Anyone know how to embed this into a post on this board?

We all fell in love with 'Alaskan Amber'.  Went to the Albertson's around the corner, and found some -- replaces Fat Tire as my favorite.  Great stuff.
